Rooted in this community since 1886
In the spring of 1886, fifty-six men and women petitioned to organize a church in what was then the Black's Mill section of Moore County. On September 15, 1886, Culdee was officially organized with twenty-nine charter members.
The name "Culdee" comes from an ancient monastic order in Ireland and Scotland, whose brothers were known for their care of the sick and poor and their love of music in worship — a heritage we still carry today.
